With the exception of Dunbar, León, and Robertson, all are American-born. These three however, all received American training. Though Dunbar spent much of his life in England, he departed for foreign soil on an American mission. León built her conducting, piano performance, and composing career in America. Robertson and his family moved to the United States from Jamaica when he was quite young. This compilation of profiles may not be as selective as some readers might desire, but the intent in these pages is simply to include those conductors who exhibited presence and involvement in the field, with outstanding achievements along the way.
